Reflection on meeting

The chief of road accident department, Hamdan, the manager of the driving
school, Mubarak and Mr. Hedley.
Hamad Khalid
opening the meeting and considered the problems of car accidents in the UAE. He
invited the participants.
Hamdan listed
the main reasons of the car accidents in the UAE:
1. Speeding.
2. Poor car maintenance.
3. Careless
driving.
4. Ignoring car
rules.
5. Poor road
maintenance.
Then Mubarak
previewed the solutions to reduce the number of car accidents:
1. Awareness
campaigns.
2. Increasing
fines.
3. Rewards for
ideal drivers.
4. Increasing
police patrol.
5. Increasing the
number of radars.
a) Hamad mentioned about increasing fines; he
thought increasing fines would not work because specific people don’t care
because of their high salary.
b) Hamdan represented
some statistics that showed the different rates and the number of accidents for
each reason.
Recommendations:
a) Khalid recommended that driving should be
taught very well.
b) Hamdan thought increasing fines is not the
perfect solution to reduce the car accidents; it should be replaced with more
severe penalties.
The meeting
was controlled by Khalid Salem. All members contributed to the discussion.
