Hamdan's Presentation Observation
Hamdan Kareem Al Nuaimi, H00230913
Date: 8th- January -2013
Venue: W104
Time: 11:15
Hamdan Kareem did a presentation about “Global Warming” in W104 class in 8th-1-2013. His presentation was beautiful and organized; I liked it and it was interesting. At the beginning he talked about the definition of global warming. His introduction was full of information but then the presentation became boring because of his way of presentation. His voice was boring for the listeners and at the same level. Hamdan was confusedly confounded in his presentation, and he didn’t have knowledge about the topic. Global warming is a global problem, but Hamdan didn’t make the topic interesting. Actually he was depending on some notes when he presented; that showed us Hamdan wasn’t ready for the presentation. Overall, the presentation was exciting at the beginning but after that there were a decline in the quality of presentation. Hamdan had many problems in the presentation, like he brought some information without telling us the source.
In conclusion, Hamdan needs to practice more and more on the principles of the presenting to be better in the future. Also he should care more about his topic.

Ahmed Nasser Ali Saeed, H00234785
Date: 13th November 2012
Venue: W104
Time: 10:30
Ahmed started the presentation by introducing himself and his topic. He introduced his topic very well; he talked about the topic and the outcomes inside. Ahmed’s eyes were only in contact with Hedley and some students not at all, so he will lose the other students concentration. Ahmed sometimes stood in front of the screen so he covered the screen, but he also sometimes stood beside it to explain something on the screen. Ahmed didn’t use the note paper for his presentation; he remembered his sentences but Ahmed got some kinds of information like numbers from the screen. Ahmed’s voice was clear to us but his voice was rather boring because he doesn’t change the volume of his voice. Ahmed always smiles to our faces in his presentation.
The presentation was beautiful and organized well; the slides had a connection with the topic and the pictures were wonderful. The text size was perfect for us to read and to keep the presentation organized. I like his presentation and I want to visit Spain in the future.

school, Mubarak and Mr. Hedley.

opening the meeting and considered the problems of car accidents in the UAE. He
invited the participants.
Hamdan listed
the main reasons of the car accidents in the UAE:
1. Speeding.
2. Poor car maintenance.
3. Careless
driving.
4. Ignoring car
rules.
5. Poor road
maintenance.
Then Mubarak
previewed the solutions to reduce the number of car accidents:
1. Awareness
campaigns.
2. Increasing
fines.
3. Rewards for
ideal drivers.
4. Increasing
police patrol.
5. Increasing the
number of radars.
a) Hamad mentioned about increasing fines; he
thought increasing fines would not work because specific people don’t care
because of their high salary.
b) Hamdan represented
some statistics that showed the different rates and the number of accidents for
each reason.
Recommendations:
a) Khalid recommended that driving should be
taught very well.
b) Hamdan thought increasing fines is not the
perfect solution to reduce the car accidents; it should be replaced with more
severe penalties.

Hamed Khalid opened the meeting with an introduction: “Good moorning gentlemen; in this meeting we
are going to discuss car accidents in Abu Dhabi in 2011-2012. In attendance
we have Khalid Al Zaabi -the Head of Police , Hamdan Kareem – the chief off
Road Accidents Department, Mubarak Salem – Manager of Emirates Driving
Institute- and me, Hamed Khalid - the secretary of the head of police. First we
will start with the number of car accidents with Hamden Kareem”.
Hamdan Kareem handed out some sheets:” Hello
gentlemen, statistics of car accidents and their causes are shown in this
histogram in 2011-2012 and separated into 3 groups. The first group is
accidents that occurred in January to April. As you can see speeding and
ignoring traffic rules are the major causes of accidents with the total number above
8000 accidents. According to records, no accidents were caused from poor road
quality. In the second group which was in summer vacation, it was observed that
most of the accidents were in the highway roads and they fall in 3 major
points, speeding, poor car maintenance and poor road maintenance. In the last
group Sept-Dec, The police patrols and Saaed records showed a lot of surprising
facts; most of the accidents could be avoided if the drivers were obeying
traffic rules”.
An example of poor road maintenance danger was given by
Khalid: “I was driving my car last Friday at 11:00pm near my home and there
was a hole in the street which couldn't be seen clearly at that moment and I
almost lost control but fortunately I was driving around 35km/h”.
Another example was given by Hamed:” Our own family driver tried to reach his destination on time by
driving on the road shoulder, so he was caught by police and the car was impounded
for 30 days with 6 black points and a 600 Dhr fine”.
Several questions were asked by Mr. Hedley about these
situations and why do people put their own lives in danger!
Hamdan said:” a survey was done and the results were:
1-
46% said to not get late at
work.
2-
29% said to avoid traffic.
3-
14% said they like to drive
fast!
4-
11% others
Chairman of the meeting Khalid moved on to the results of
accidents:” Our nation has lost a lot of future builders in these
accidents . In the second sheet you can have a look at number
of lost souls in last year separated into 3 groups depending on their ages and
the causes of death:
1-
A total of 124 persons passed away because of speeding; mostly were
between 15 and 30.
2-
A total of 75 persons passed away because of poor car maintenance, mainly
between 31 and 45.
3-
A total of 118 persons passed away because of careless driving especially between
15 and 30.
4-
A total of 102 persons passed away because of ignoring traffic rules.
5-
A total of 90 persons passed away because of poor road maintenance .
The main
reason that I have arranged this meeting is to reduce the number of car
accidents and to improve our society and provide a safe environment for others
drivers.
Mubarak Salem
introduced himself and said:” We can’t imagine a happy life while a
lot of families and victims are suffering in these situations. According to experts’
research, the points that I’m going to offer them now helped a lot to reduce
accidents around the world. The first point is…
1-
Increase the number of awareness
campaigns and do them in different languages.
2-
Increase the amount of fines.
3-
Rewards for ideal driving
which is a good motivation.
4-
Increase the number of
police patrols so they can take faster action.
5-
Increase the number of radars
to reduce the space for speeding.
A 10 minutes discussion about these
solutions and other suggestions was provided.
Khalid the chairman thanked the gentlemen
for their time and said these solutions will be done soon and a survey is going
to be done and they will discuss the results in the next meeting.
Everyone left the meeting room at 8:50.
